wiwo wednesday vol. 5

MBP_1884
The last week flew - I feel like I blinked and a whole week is over. I was busy with school and had a friend from the states over (hey, Sam!). Being busy also means that I didn't get a lot of time to work on my current projects.
I made some (visible) progress on my buttercup sweater. It feels like I knit and knit and knit and there's no progress whatsoever. But comparing this week's photo with last week's shows a huge difference. It finally starts to look like something that could end up being wearable.

There's a new project in the making: I got my favorite flea market find out again and started spinning yesterday. My tension isn't perfect but oh man I'm having fun. I just love how relaxing spinning is. Hopefully I'll have a 2-ply skein ready by next week's wiwo post.

There has been some progress on my latest #operationsockyarn project. I bought another set of DPNs so I can knit two socks simultaneously. Yay!

Unfortunately, neither my bolt statement nor my stripe obsession got any attention this past week. Also, I'm totally using my Christmas themed knitting bag all year round because that's how I roll.

  1. Wow, that really is a huge amount of progress on the Buttercup! When knitting huge swathes of stockinette or plain ribbing, I like to insert a safety pin into a stitch on the row where I start for the day, then measure my progress as I knit against the location of the safety pin. It makes it a lot easier to see the progress.

    Cute knitting bags!

  2. Impressive progress :-) I'm working up to two socks at the same time, haven't finished the first part of the first one yet, but have needles and yarn ready for sock two, a mystery knit-along, my first one. I'm loving these leftover socks.

If I had a Christmas themed knitting bag I'd use it all year too!

  4. Your spinning looks really good. Are you planning on knitting with the yarn as is or dying it?
