Sneak Peak: ReStyled Volume I

Remember my January Goals? Yes, there was something about doing one ReStyle Project. I came up with the idea in December, but until I had all the supplies and figured out what exactly I wanted... well. It took me some time but I started ReStyling today :)

Unfortunately, it isn't finished yet. Soo... I'll have to finish it tomorrow. This is just a little sneak peak...

Sneak Peak: ReStyle I

The project involves a camping mat, a sewing machine and lots of unseaming!!

Go figure it out or come back tomorrow :)

C'est Bon // French Madeleines (original)

Today, I baked some Madeleines and I thought 'Why not share it with my lovely blog readers?'

They're really easy to make and it only takes about 12 minutes to prepare them!!

First, you wanna turn on some music :)

Here's what you'll need to bake about 30 madeleines:

200g sugar

Butter-Vanilla Flavor*

~90ml milk

3 eggs

250g flour

some baking powder

90 g butter (or margarine)

Since the preparation doesn't take long, I recommend to preheat your oven to 200-220°C right away.

Start with mixing the sugar, butter-vanilla flavor*, about 2/3 of the milk and the 3 eggs together.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour with about half a teaspoon of baking powder together. Then, while the mixer is still turned on, carefully add the flour and baking powder to the rest of the dough. Don't put it all in at once (because it makes a huge mess. Believe me, I've tried it before...)

DSC_4588 Last but not least, mix the (warm) butter or margarine with the rest of the dough. I recommend you to take butter, because it tastes better imo, but we didn't have any so I used margarine.DSC_4598

Mix until the dough is creamy :) If it is too thick, add some more milk. If you put too much milk in, just add some more flour.

Grease your baking-tin well. I used silicon ones so I just rinsed them with cold water.

Put the dough into the madeleine molds until they're filled to the top. If you don't have madeleine molds you can take cupcake molds or make your own madeleine molds out of aluminum foil. We only have two molds and I was too lazy to wait until they were finished and re-fill them. So I just took small cake molds and filled them.

Bake the madeleines for about 10 minutes. Mine had to stay in the oven for about 15 minutes. If you take cupcake molds, I would add 3-5 minutes since they pastry will be thicker.

I like them light, so I usually take them out of the oven when they're golden at the edges. You can also wait until they're completely golden.

Once they're finished, take them out of the molds and let them cool. You can eat them while they're still warm, although they're traditionally eaten cold.

Bon appétit :)

*Instead of butter-vanilla aroma, you can also use vanilla, rum or citron flavor and/or grounded almonds.

365 // Week 3

So far, my week has been rather uncreative, uneventful and rainy. We've had grey, rainy weather for weeks now and quite frankly, I MISS SUMMER! I wanna be able to go outside without an umbrella, scarf, hat, gloves and a thick coat. Winter is fun - as long as there's snow. Anyway, I guess I'm just using the unfortunate weather conditions as an excuse for my uncreative photos this week.

I have friday - tuesday off, so I'll hopefully find some time to get a little more creative. Also, I'll work on some things on my to-do list for January. I'm excited for a crafty, comfy weekend :)

Thursday: messy hair, comfy wool cardigan and no make up. that's why I refused to take a 'normal' portrait of me.

Friday: weekend! Happy day. And wearing a dress from Urban Outfitters, although I almost froze my butt off on my bike.

Saturday: inspired by 'Green Eyes' by Coldplay :)

Sunday: What's In My Bag? Volume I. Can you believe that this photo got almost 750 views within a few days?? Haha, there seem to be a lot of nosy people out there :)

Monday: worked on university applications. Looking ahead :)

Tuesday: One of my addictions: notes. I have small, colorful pieces of paper everywhere with notes on them. I also love sticky notes :)

Wednesday: It was around 10:30pm when I realized, that I didn't take a picture today - yet. So I had to come up with something quick. As I'm already snuggled up in my pajamas, a self-portrait wouldn't have been ... appropriate? I have this chandelier in my room that I got at a flea market for like 2 bucks. Although it's from IKEA, it is an older model and there aren't any replacement parts for it anymore. Some tiny bits and peaces are missing, but I love it anyway :)

Have a lovely day/evening :)

60's inspiration

Next month my mom will turn 50 and she decided to have a 60's inspired party. Yay, I'm really excited to dress up :)

I've been browsing the internet and some local thrift stores. Unfortunately, we only have 2-3 very small ones and I didn't find anything outstanding on dawanda.com, yet. Shipping from the US is too expensive and takes too long :(

Anyways, I'll post some 60's inspiration the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking about sewing a dress for the party. We have lots of vintage sheets and it would be a fabulous ReStyle project, right?

Here's some inspiration I found on etsy...

What's In My Bag? Volume I

Hey guys,

I thought it would be fun to share a little 'What's In My Bag?'-post. As the content of my bag changes quite often I decided to make this a new blog feature. A couple of times per year I will show you what's in my bag. Go to flickr to see all the notes with explanations what's in my bag :)

365 // Week 1 & 2

Here are the pictures I took for my 365 Project for Week 1 and 2. I can't wait for summer when there's still daylight when I get home. I'll come up with more outdoor shots in the future, I promise.

Knit A Bit // Once upon a time...

... there was a small child who liked yarn. Every time she saw yarn, she would go crazy :)

Her uncle had to pretend to listen to music in order to endure the scene.

I've always freaked out about yarn :)

One day she decided she wanted to learn to knit, just like her brother and sister.

Once upon a time...

Her daddy had fun knitting, too!

Knitting with my dad

Although she doesn't freak out that often anymore, she still has a passion for knitting and crocheting :)

When did you learn to crochet / knit?
